Part 2
Planning to surprise and delight customers
Plan to create word-of-mouth marketing 👍

This is where things can get REALLY fun for you and your customers of your mini-course. We think of surprise and delight as our secret weapons when selling anything.

Not only will it show your customer you went above and beyond for them, but it also can create word-of-mouth marketing which is the best form of marketing!

Here are a few ideas of ways you can plan to surprise and delight your customers:

  • Idea #1: Send something physical in the mail (like a postcard, related gift, or something custom*)
  • Idea #2: An additional video workshop on your mini-course topic
  • Idea #3: A PDF or other digital book around your mini-course topic
  • Idea #4: Audio interviews with people in your industry
  • Idea #5: An invitation to do a 1-on-1 call with you to learn more about the customer’s situation*
  • Idea #6: An offer to do an audit of their website/business/etc.
  • Idea #7: A short personalized video from you made for EACH customer thanking them and saying hello
  • Idea #8: An existing product you’ve already created that’s somewhat aligned but may just be a cool thing to check out!

*Note about sending mail: If you want to send something in the mail to your mini-course customers, just remember to factor that cost into your overall revenue and expenses. You don’t want to sell a $50 mini-course and then spend $25 sending someone something in the mail (you just killed your profit margin!)

In an ideal situation, you either A) already have something you can surprise and delight your mini-course customers with or B) you can create it today in one hour. Remember, you want your surprise and delight to be GOOD, but you also don’t want to spend all your time on it as it’s just a nice surprise for your customers.

PRO-TIP: We recommend adding your surprise and delight as another lesson within your mini-course! Smart, right? It’s a great way to keep this organized and when you add “Bonus Lesson!” in your mini-course lesson list, your customer will be nice and happy!

Does adding surprise and delight feel overwhelming and too much of a task? Just. Skip. It. That’s perfectly fine! It’s an optional thing you can always do in a few weeks if now isn’t a good time for you or if it’s holding up your progress in any way.
